This
website was created out of the love of gardening. For
over forty years, I have toiled in the soil of my
vegetable garden. I have grown everything from A to Z
and back again. In 1999, my beloved bride Marie became
very ill. During her recovery period, spending time
with her, I learned to love flowering plants. This
website is dedicated to all our gardening interests. I
will introduce you to my Deep wide row method of
vegetable gardening. I developed this method primarily
to eliminate the problem of properly maintaining
moisture in dry climates such as Texas where we live.
This method provide superior growing culture allowing
plants more room for there roots to spread and thrive. I
hope this method will make your Gardening efforts more
productive as it has mine.
Additionally we
have included my second love, “Daylilies”, and the other
“Flowering Plants” we grow and enjoy. It is our vision
to someday house the largest Daylily Photographic
Database in the world. My first attempt at creating our
first Daylily Database was a simple text based
collection of data and Daylily images.
In 2002
my first cousin Jason S. saw it and liked the project,
and said it could be a great deal better. He voluntarily
joined the project and completely redesigned the
Database. He developed and built the current search
engines. The Fertility Database was added as well as the
ability to search for child cultivars of registered
Daylilies. In September 2003 we formed a partnership. In
2004 Jason S. developed our “My Daylilies” function so
our supporters could maintain a personal database of
their own Daylily collections and make trades between
our Benefactor members. Jason S. Has many more plans for
Garden related perks for our supporters.
On July
19 2003 we introduced our Gardening Discussion Forums.
We have great fun discussing our love of gardening with
members across the globe. It was our goal to provide a
forum providing freedom of speech within the bounds of
civility. Our website is completely member supported by
many fundraiser efforts developed primarily by our
members. We routinely hold two major fundraisers in the
form of Daylily auctions in the Spring and Fall. We hope
all our website visitors will participate in our many
forums discussion.
We
recently added online auctions. We are in hopes of
attracting mostly gardening auction items and users.
However we can accommodate all type of auction items at
reasonable rates.
Our
future goals are somewhat unclear at this time, but will
continue to provide cutting edge gardening content and
services.
We hope
this website will be of some value to you for years to
come.
